There is a wide variety of views and feelings about this. Some people believe that it is humankind's destiny to travel into space, to settle on other planets and perhaps eventually to even leave the Earth behind. Many people believe that our natural curiosity is to explore, to discover, to ask and answer questions, and to learn, and that space travel is therefore an expression of mankind's quest to fulfill these human needs. Other people believe that there are more important needs here on Earth and that space travel is therefore an expensive and unnecessary waste. Perhaps the answer is that humankind does not need to make a choice—perhaps we can improve things on Earth and at the same time explore space. Exploring space might help us to solve problems on the Earth through new technologies.
