Jon H. Brown

Jon Brown has fifty-five years of aerospace experience in aerodynamics, guidance and control, avionics, systems engineering, and project management. He started as a machinist making airplane parts during World War II while in high school. Following seven years as an Air Force airplane mechanic and flight engineer, he attended college to earn bachelor of science and master of science degrees in aeronautical engineering. After a stint in private industry on various aircraft projects, he joined NASA for the Apollo, Skylab, Space Shuttle, and Space Station programs. In his last assignment at the NASA Johnson Space Center he was assistant to the director of engineering and was responsible for all Space Station engineering. He retired from NASA in 1988 to return to private industry as a project manager and consultant. He is a registered professional engineer and currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas, with his wife, Charlotte. They have two children.
