Isom A. Rigell

Isom A. Rigell, Deputy Director for Engineering, Launch Vehicle Operations, Kennedy Space Center, was responsible for all Saturn V launch vehicle engineering personnel in the firing room during prelaunch preparations and countdown, providing on site resolution for engineering problems. Born in Slocomb, Ala., in 1923, Rigell was a 1950 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering. He played an active role in the nation’s space programs beginning in May, 1951.
