Design for a lunar spacecraft is featured on the cover of The Journal of the British Interplanetary Society. The article inside is written by one of the principle designers H. E. Ross. Also included is an article called "An Elementary Mathematical Approach to Astronautics" by Arthur C. Clarke.

In the January issue of the Bulletin of the BIS editor Arthur C. Clarke introduces the leadership of the BIS.

The last issue (#29) of Maurice Hanson's Novae Terrae science fiction magazine is published with Arthur C. Clarke, Hanson and William F. Temple editing. All three are members of the British Interplanetary Society. Cover art is by Harry Turner and shows the BIS design for a lunar spacecraft.
