Trevor Cusack and Eric Burgess of the Manchester Interplanetary Society created Spacewards magazine in August 1939. It would run for 21 issues and fill in the gap during the war years for British Astronautical Publications. In the late war years it would become the principal organ of the Combined British Astronautical Societies before it merged to become the reborn British Interplanetary Society.
