ARTIST CONCEPT: depicts a 50 man space base that could be assembled in Earth orbit from modules launched separately. The center section would be stationary for purposes of providing docking ports for vehicles and zero gravity for work requiring the absence of gravity. the crew quarters and some of the laboratory facilities could be on the ends of telescoping booms attached to a hub that rotates, providing artificial gravity. The base would feature a nuclear power plant.
