ARTIST CONCEPT: Space Station. This illustration is of an Earth orbiting space station designed by North American Rockwell. The station will be a semi permanent facility in orbit with an operational life of ten or more years. It will serve as a base for research, Earth oriented practical applications and support of space flight operations. The station could have four or five decks, including command and control, general purpose laboratories, living quarters and a supply area.
