ARTIST CONCEPT: illustrating an early concept of a 60-man modular space station developed by North American Rockwell. A manned vehicle would transfer astronauts back and forth to the Space Station. The orbiting platform will give many research scientists a test in weightlessness for many projects that are impossible to achieve in 1-G gravity. Four habitat modules on the end of spokes rotate to provide artificial gravity. A 150 ft telescoping boom separates the base from the two 50kw nuclear power sources.
