Trygve Magelssen
Trygve "Spike" Magelssen grew up as a commercial fisherman on a farm in Montana and then went into the US Navy and worked as an aviation boatswain's (bos'n) mate and an aviation electronics technician on a UH-1N helicopter, on the helicopter carrier USS Okinawa LPH-3. After he left the service, he went into an aviation maintenance vo-tech program and earned an FAA airframe and powerplant mechanic's license. He worked as a construction electrician and got his master electrician's license and then decided to go to college. He earned a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering technology and a master's degree in space studies with an emphasis on technical and political feasibility assessment of lunar base mission scenarios. Currently he works for Futron Corporation, in Bethesda, MD, as an engineering technologist and risk analyst on space systems.
