September 3: Lunar Test Article (LTA 2R)-carried onboard Apollo 6 flight April 4 to measure vibration, acoustics, and structural integrity for lunar module-reentered earth's atmosphere and splashed into Pa­cific. Tracking station lost contact with debris in orbit at about 10 am EDT but calculated its trajectory to landing area. (NASA Release 68-155; AP, B Sun, 9/11/68, A3)
