Abstract

A Star Catalogue Facility is required by ESA to handle all requirements for star data processing for future missions. Typically for each mission a mission-specific catalogue is needed for guide star selection, attitude determination etc. To generate a mission catalogue a database of stars from many of the available source catalogues is generated. Standard tools for handling star data, such as field of view plotting are also provided within the Star Catalogue Facility. The star catalogue facility is also used at science control centres, to assist in the planning of instrument observations
