Arthur Edward Maine was born in the north of England and emigrated to Canada in 1955. One of the founders of the Canadian Astronautical Society Maine worked at De Havilland in Downsview Ontario on Canada's early space program including the Alouette satellite. In his later life he worked in the Canadarm for the space shuttle program. He continued to contribute scientific papers until his death.
