Rick Homans

Rick Homans, Secretary of the Economic Development Department for the state of New Mexico, was Governor Richardson's first appointment in his 2003 administration. Homans was deputy campaign director for Richardson's successful gubernatorial bid, serving as the Governor's lead policy advisor. Since taking charge of the department in January, 2003 he has launched several initiatives, including the public/private Economic Development Partnership based in Albuquerque. Secretary Homans serves as Chairman of the New Mexico Spaceport Authority. Before his State appointment, Homans was Chairman and CEO of Starlight Media Group. In 1994 he founded NM Business Weekly and managed the publishing of this periodical until its sale in 2000. Homans was the co-founder of the Albuquerque Children's Museum and is a former chair of the Albuquerque Convention and Visitor's Bureau, as well as a board member and vice-chair of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. Rick Homans lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is married with two children.
