Gifts are usually video files or pictures of loved ones that friends send up electronically over the satellite links. Sometimes we have cake, but ice cream is pretty rare because of storing it on board below freezing. Shannon Lucid came up with a very special treat for celebrating, though—JELL-O! The refrigerator on the International Space Station (ISS) is just cold enough to do it. JELL-O tastes great in space and is also fun to play with!
