The radius of the Moon is measured from its center of mass to its surface. For the Moon this is, on average, about 1,080 miles. The Earth's radius at the equator is 3,963 miles making the Moon's radius 27.25 percent that of the Earth. http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/moon_worldbook.html (See CDROM)
