Possibly! Sumerian tablets dating back to about 4000 BC describe the solar system as having 12 planets, though they could only see six of them. An astronomer in 1860 predicted the existence of a small planet named Vulcan inside the orbit of Mercury—so close to the Sun that we cannot directly observe it. So far, no one has seen it; however, anything is possible. For many years, scientists didn't believe that a tenth planet existed, so who knows how many more there are!
