Remember that objects in space can be very cold or very hot depending on whether they are in sunlight or darkness. Also, the farther away from the Sun, the colder objects are. Therefore, we keep the environment inside our spaceships as Earth-like as possible, and astronauts can wear normal clothing as they work. Spacesuits for spacewalks are basically body-shaped spaceships that have heaters and coolers to keep temperatures normal for the people inside. If we were to go into space without a spacesuit (not a very wise decision), we would only survive for a matter of seconds due to lack of air, lack of air pressure, and extreme cold—if we are far away from the Sun or in darkness.
