Yes, everyone has a specific job, and they do have special pre-flight training. Some jobs are so highly specialized that only one crewmember is trained for that work. Training for most general work, such as spacecraft systems operation, is provided for all crewmembers. The training will be done using briefings or programmed instruction for a knowledge base. Mockups are used for familiarization with the physical arrangement or layout of equipment (stowage of equipment for example). Trainers are a step above mockups and usually are functional for specific tasks. A glove box is a device that permits you to manipulate equipment with your hands using gloves into which you stick your hands. That way the spacecraft environment is not exposed to material in the glove box that might contaminate the environment, and the possibility that human handling could contaminate the material in the glove box is prevented. Simulators are the top of the line. Although they range in sophistication, simulators provide an excellent reproduction of the performance of spacecraft. Virtual reality simulations have been in use for over a decade and the Hubble Telescope repairs were highly successful because of virtual reality training.
