Venus rotates retrograde, meaning it rotates from east to west, instead of west to east, which would be prograde, as most of the other major planets do. It is not known why Venus spins differently though it may be the result of a collision in the planet's distant past. In addition, Venus spins very slowly. 243 days go by on Earth for every day on Venus.
