06. Does training overlap so that one crewmember can also do another's job? (A K2S Question)

Generally that is the case. For instance, the commander and pilot on the Shuttle have equivalent training and the principal difference is that the commander has more flight experience. On Spacelab flights (Shuttle) they usually work two shifts, and at least two people will be conducting research using the same equipment. At least one person on each Shuttle flight will have paramedic training and usually that individual does not have a backup.
