The Earth looks more like a blue marble, with white swirls, which are the clouds and snow. It is very smooth because the highest mountains are so small compared to its overall size. If you drew a circle to represent the Earth on a big piece of paper, and made it as big as ten feet across, then Everest would still only be a bump—a tenth of an inch— not much more than the thickness of the pencil line.
