I was never really scared. As a graduate of the Russian cosmonaut training system, I was fully confident when the engines were ignited on the launch pad in Kazakhstan that I would be able to handle whatever might happen on my flight. I was so positive of this that my heartbeat never went above 72 beats per minute during ascent and I was able to track to the second the sequence of the events from launch to orbit.
