Yes, it is possible to have an aquarium in micro-gravity. Aquariums have been carried aboard the Space Shuttle, but only for scientific experiments. These highly sophisticated aquariums help us study whether fish can survive in the micro-gravity environments of spacecrafts. The experiments have proved successful—meaning that fish can live in micro-gravity and therefore we should be able to take fish when we travel. However, fish behavior might be different to that seen on Earth. The Japanese Medaka Fish taken to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of a student experiment swam upside down, as they could not sense the way gravity was acting in order to orient themselves as they do on Earth!
