There are two telephones on board the ISS that allow the crewmembers to call home. According to Lt. Col. Fincke, the Space Shuttle also has telephone capability. The telephone is actually a part of a computer much like you will see on your Internet connection. This allows the crewmembers to access a computer on Earth that then connects them to a land line so that the call can be made the same as though the crewmember were in his or her own living room.
