Yes, many experimental results have been unexpected, and useful to science and industry back on Earth. In one experiment with fire in weightlessness, a new form of burning, or combustion, was discovered. But while we might discover new combinations or compounds of elements it is unlikely that there are undiscovered basic elements out in space.
