All travel messes up your sense of time. Your sense of time is different for short and long time periods. For example, you may be able to count seconds easily (one thousand one, one thousand two, and so forth) especially if you have a good sense of rhythm, but you might lose track of how long a day is. Having clocks around helps keep our biological clocks synchronized to a time standard like "day and night" even when we don't actually have day and night to go by.
