On Earth, it is generally believed that mobility should emphasize independence from features such as guides and handrails because they are not standard, and thus cannot be counted on to be available. Because of the challenges of micro-gravity, handrails are used by astronauts who can see. Bottom line: mobility in zero-gravity is a challenge for everyone and solutions need to be available to encourage safe movement by all.
