Robots will generally last as long as their batteries last. Just like car batteries, robot batteries can be charged and recharged, but at some point the batteries cannot keep their charge. Because there is no one to change the batteries, the robot stops working. Or, the robot stops working due to catastrophic damage from, for example, space debris or meteors.
