If you pointed a camera at the Pole Star, on time exposure, you would see all the other stars make a circular motion around it. So, the Earth always spins in the same direction once a day, around an imaginary axis which lines up with the Pole Star. The tilted axis (23 degrees) gives us summers in one-half of the globe and winters at the same time in the other half. At Christmas-time in Australia you can go surfing at the beach!
