Spacesuits would be very hot if there were no cooling. Astronauts wear liquid cooling garments (LCG) underneath their spacesuits. These garments fit the body like long underwear but have cool water lines that flow all around the astronaut's body to provide cooling. The spacesuit is pressurized with oxygen and is built so that it will not leak. It also has sensors, monitored by ground controllers that indicate if the suit is maintaining its pressure. Should a problem occur, the astronaut returns inside to the safety of the spacecraft.
