The logistics of a crewed mission to Mars are complex, stretching us to the very edge of our technological ability. There are many things that we need to know before planning a human mission to Mars. We are now sending robots to Mars to find these answers. According to NASA, the timing of the first human research missions to Mars will depend on several factors: the discoveries from robotic explorers, the development of techniques to deal with Mars hazards, and the availability of funding.
