Jupiter has at least 63 moons. The four largest moons (Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto) are known as the Galilean Moons because Galileo Galilei first observed them on January 7, 1610. This "family portrait," a composite of the Jovian system, includes the edge of Jupiter with its Great Red Spot, and Jupiter's four largest moons, also known as the Galilean satellites.
