At this time the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is still in orbit and operating. Some of its controlling systems are wearing out, however, and must be repaired or it will stop operating before 2010. Many astronomical and cosmological discoveries have come from the HST observations. But don't forget the Spitzer and Chandra space observatories that are also making discoveries with electronic eyes peering into deep space, in frequencies of light neither the HST nor human eyes can directly see.
