Yes, many experiments have been conducted on plants in space. Experiments from short exposures (2 to 17 days) to full-term 180-day experiments (such as planting a seed in a growth chamber on a space station and allowing it to grow all the way to seed production) have been conducted in space. The shorter-term experiments are primarily designed to look at short-term chemical and biochemical processes, and the effects of radiation. The longer-term experiments focus on the effects of micro-gravity on full cycle, or seed-to-seed, physiological and morphological plant development.
