17. Why do we want to risk our lives going to space to do these missions? (A K2S Question)

Everything we do involves risk. Risk is sometimes physical danger, and sometimes it is just the risk that our time will be wasted in doing things that end without important or useful results. Nonetheless, the greatest rewards come from doing those things that involve the greatest risk. People go to space to do things which can only be done in space and cannot practically be done by machines. People working in space are making discoveries there that will continue to improve our lives here on Earth.
