Trees and plants typically use either temperature or light to induce defoliation. Because we would have to create all of the environments for growing plants, we would be able to control the choice of temperature and amount and length of light exposure. The plants would not be confused, but their productivity could be altered. The controlled environment can be altered to create seasons, if there is good reason to do so.
