23. We believe in going to space, but what can we say to those people who insist we should spend this space money to help the homeless and the needy instead? (A K2S Question)

Only a relatively small portion of that "space money" is something that the US government can choose to spend in other ways. The rest of the money is spent by private citizens and companies, and other governments. I think they might be a bit miffed if you tried to take their money away, no matter what good cause you'd like to spend it on. Overall, I firmly believe that we can be compassionate toward our fellow humans and follow our dreams of traveling in space.
