I don't think anyone can fully anticipate the cascading emotional, intellectual and physical impacts of traveling in space. Traveling in space was something I'd set out to do as a teenager and never during the forty years it took me to attain my goal did I once fully imagine what it would be like to be floating in space while looking back on Earth. I do think that while we can try and imitate the weightlessness or show videos of Earth from space, nothing can really anticipate or match the personal experience.
