27. How many years will it take for the Sun to become a black hole? (A K2S Question)

Our Sun will never become a black hole since it does not have enough mass to allow it to form a black hole. Only stars with a much greater mass than the Sun—eight to ten times the Sun's mass—have the possibility of collapsing into a black hole. The key is the mass of the core of the star at the end of its lifetime: if the core remaining after a supernova blast is greater than three solar masses, it will continue to collapse and become a black hole.
