"It's the saddest moment of my life," said astronaut Ed White after he was told that he would have to end his spacewalk outside of the Gemini spacecraft and return inside the capsule. Spacewalks provide exhilarating experiences with breathtaking views as your eyes watch dark and light fly by and you become immersed in a grand view of the cosmos from your perspective while orbiting the Earth at 17,500 mph! Wow! Many astronauts also enjoy being weightless in a micro-gravity environment once they get used to the sensation of floating freely in space. Astronauts are always profoundly changed after they come back from a mission in space—it really changes your sense of priorities once you get to look down at this fragile-looking blue marble called Earth, with the thin atmosphere protecting all its life.
