43. How safe is the Space Shuttle? Will it be space worthy? (A K2S Question)

Safety is difficult to express, but based on two losses out of 115 flights, you might say there is one chance in 57 that there will be a Shuttle crash in future flights. Spaceflight is at best an extremely dangerous business, but NASA can be depended on to make the Shuttle as space worthy as possible. And fortunately, as more and more flights are accomplished, NASA learns more and more about how to fly safely.
