Spacecraft typically have large rockets for major translations (boost and course changes) and small attitude control rockets for maneuvering. Spacecraft that operate in the atmosphere of, say, Earth or Mars may use aerodynamic surfaces like airplanes and even parachutes. Usually on board systems command these motion effectors.
