NASA scientists Michael J. Prather and Robert T. Watson warned that current levels of ozone depletion could cause public health problems and threaten plant life regardless of what steps were taken to reduce it. Their study predicted that the salient depletion over the Arctic could drift southward, similar to the damaged ozone over Antarctica that periodically drifts over New Zealand and Australia.
