A Soviet rocket burned with a huge fireball as it reentered the Earth's atmosphere, lighting up the skies over a broad area of the West and Midwest. The rocket was used in the launching of Soviet communications satellite Raduga 21 on December 10, 1987. (C Trib, Dec 14/87; LA Times, Dec 14/87)
