INTERPLANETARY FLIGHT

by Clarke, A. C.

New York, 1951: Harper and Brothers, 164 pages, $3.50 (1960 edition)

Ranging from semi-technical to technical, the book provides an excellent introducton to astronautics. Its ten chapters deal with such subjects as the history of astronautical thinking, Earth's gravitational field, rockets, escape, lunar and interplanetary flight, atomic rockets, spaceships and space stations. The majority of mathematical arguments are found in the appendix. It was first published in 1950 in Great Britain. A second edition appeared in 1960, 144 pages, fully revised with data on Earth satellites and space probes.
