A new, portable, battery-powered spotlight, with a peak capability of 1-million candlepower and 50 times brighter than high-beam auto-mobile headlights, had been developed from NASA arc light research, NASA announced. The 3-kg spotlight, called the Stream Lite-1 Million and marketed by Streamlight, Inc., used a unique xenon lamp with an operating lifetime of 200 hrs at maximum intensity. (NASA Release 74-6)
