Arthur C. Clarke writing to Sam Youd reveals, "The BIS Technical Committee is designing its first space ship...It differs entirely from any conceived before and we hope that the blueprints will create a sensation when revealed to an astonished world. Hmm." He then goes on to say, "I don't want writing fame, and I see no reason to believe that I have great literary ability."
