Collection of more than 1,500 tektites-dark, glassy objects suspected to be of lunar origin-had been presented to Geology Dept. of Pomona College, Claremont, Calif., by Dr. Harvey H. Nininger, a 1917 alumnus. Dr. Nininger had gathered most of the tektites in South Vietnam. (AP, NYT, 7/3/66, 24)

France exploded an experimental atomic bomb from tower on Mururoa Atoll in the Pacific. Estimated yield was less than one megaton. (Wash. Post, 7/3/66, A1)
