First three of 749 F-15 Eagle air superiority fighter aircraft in Air Force program had done well in initial flight tests, according to Air Force sources quoted by New York Times. Two were undergoing tests at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., and third at McDonnell Douglas facility in St. Louis. Aircraft was U.S. answer to Soviet MiG-23 Foxbat and Mikoyan Fearless, new Soviet air superiority fighter forecast for 1974 deployment. (Middleton, NYT, 11/25/72, 17)
