Italy's San Marco 3 (launched April 24) reentered atmosphere after more than seven months in orbit. Design lifetime had been six months. Satellite had produced excellent data on density, composition, and temperature of equatorial neutral- particle atmosphere at altitudes of 222-723 km (137.9-449.2 mi). Senate Committee on Nutrition asked Federal Government to provide emergency food for highly skilled professionals in Seattle, Wash., who had been hit by aerospace industry unemployment. Committee, investigating Seattle situation after Dept. of Agriculture had refused request from State of Washington for free distribution of surplus food in Seattle, said many families were going hungry.
